The BLU3 System: The lithium-ion batteries are removable and fully TSA-compliant.
Rule of Thumb: Always pack the batteries in your carry-on luggage (do not check them). The main compressor unit and hose can be safely checked with your regular luggage or brought on board.
The Paddle Board: Your iSUP rolls up into its wheeled travel bag, which can be checked as standard sporting equipment (often flying free depending on your airline!).

A battery-powered compressor floats at the surface on its own buoyant base. It pumps fresh air down through the hose to the Smart Reg mouthpiece you breathe from, and the whole unit simply tows along behind you as you explore. No tanks to fill and no heavy gear to haul — everything packs into the included backpack.
No traditional scuba certification is required. Every BLU3 system includes free online dive training, a fitness-to-dive evaluation, and a detailed owner’s manual. You’ll practice the essential skills in a pool first, then take your new skills into open water with confidence.
Divers must be at least 8 years old to use the system in a pool (in water shallow enough to stand in with their head above the surface), and at least 12 for open-water diving. Anyone under 18 dives with parent or guardian supervision. Every diver should be able to swim 200 yards without stopping and tread water for 10 minutes. One important note: the systems use strong magnets — people with pacemakers or medical implants should not use them and must stay at least 2 feet away from the unit.
The Nomad Mini runs about 35–40 minutes at its 15-foot rating, and the Nomad runs 45–60+ minutes at 30 feet. Shallower dives use less power, so they last longer. The battery swaps in seconds between dives — many divers carry a spare to double their bottom time.
The system warns you before it quits: airflow starts to sputter and pulse in a way that feels clearly different from normal breathing. When you feel that pulsing, begin a slow, controlled ascent and end your dive — never push past the warning.
As long as the very top of the intake snorkel stays above the surface, fresh air keeps flowing — the rest of the unit can be submerged without damage. If the intake dips under, airflow can be interrupted, so always follow the interrupted-air procedures from your training. After saltwater dives, rinse the system with fresh water and follow the flush procedure in the owner’s manual.
